I am planning on making tiny DIY Media Reactor to run phosban/carbon/puregin (SP?) The set up is pretty simple. I still need to buy some of the materials for it, but the project is underway. Will post picture of it when its all up and running, and as I build. This is perfect for nano tanks.

To keep expense down and make parts easy to find you can use plain PVC pipe and fittings for the body of the reactor. Another plus using this method is that light cannot penetrate into the reactor and cause algae growth inside of the Rx.

I used to run phosban, but found it wasn't all that great. If you get too much flow, it breaks up and gets into your tank, if too little it is ineffective (I had hair algae growing in the phosban reactor!). If you are putting it into a DYI, I would place it after the purigen. Purigen is great stuff! There is another phosphate remover (rowphos {sp?}) that you might want to test out.

There is a new one on the market ( place it in a pantyhose leg and tie off) that works well it is a bit pricey but each unit can be recharged up to 4 times fairly easy .
GFO media It has helped burn out the pieces of algea that I could not get out Very Happy
