They usually need a nursery tank with a foam coverd sorce of filtration to protect them .Perhaps a net nursery insid the tank would be possible as well .. Feeding them is not really known at this time ,

I'm guessing the fry would possibly feed off starfish in the planktonic stage WWM quote
They may feed off of rotifers as well?
Not much is known on how to breed these wonderful creatures in captivity .I know Skip here was working on breeding other shrimps so I am not sure he may be able to help ya there on the nursery set up as well as feedings .

You can get a lot of information on invert breeding on www.marinebreeder.org . I was trying to work with breeding sexy shrimp (Thor Amboinensis) but had to drop the project due to a spinal injury that prevented me from being able to maintain things properly.

thank you all for the helpful info

I've also read that the larvae will eat copepods.
Do you think that they'll be able to eat this?

Not sure if they would be too big for the larval stage , perhaps they could eat cyclopeeze or oyster eggs ?

Welcome to the site!

They really only eat stars and urchins (Asterias rubens for adults, and Linckia for juveniles). Adults may also eat urchins.
Good luck with them and keep us updated.

From my research only the adult juvenile and baby shrimp eat the stars.

The actual larvae can eat other stuff.

Congrats on your shrimp

I'm just saying that they have a very specific diet, so be prepared (if the fry survive, it would make for a great article!) to spend some $$ on stars and urchins.

I already have two.
If any of them do survive I'll probably donate or sell them to the Lfs
